Eye Care Without Borders

Making a Difference Today

Why We Care

Here at Eye Care Without Borders, we know that sometimes all it takes to make a difference is a little care and support. Since we started our charity work, we have been determined to make an impact. The core of our efforts is bringing free eye care to underprivileged societies. We believe that everyone, young and old, should have access to good eye care. By providing free spectacles and eyedrops, we aim to treat and prevent vision loss in as many people as we can reach.

Eye Clinic

At Eye Care Without Borders, we are dedicated to stepping up our efforts in treating all kinds of eye diseases. Running a Mobile Eye Clinic is by no means an easy feat, but with the right equipment, resources and eye care volunteers, we believe we can provide good eye care to people anywhere.

Vision Screening

With our mission always in mind, we strive to bring eye care to people in rural regions where there is poor access to eye care, or underprivileged societies who are too poor to receive eye care. Our optometrists, nurses and volunteers are trained to screen and treat refractive errors in young, elderly and people from all walks of life.

Free Spectacles

With this initiative, our goal is to provide free glasses for sight to those in need. With spectacle donations from our kind sponsors, we are able to give reading glasses, customised distance glasses and sunglasses to our beneficiaries. Learn more about our work by getting in touch with our team today.

Support Us

Eye Care Without Borders also helps to distribute meals, food and essential items to the needy communities in Singapore. If you would like to support us, you can now purchase a hard copy book 'Eye Care For All' where proceeds will go to distribute meals in December 2021.

"To make a difference in someone’s life, you don’t have to be brilliant, rich, beautiful, or perfect. You just have to care enough to be there."

Past Events

Eye Care Without Borders began as a charitable initiative to provide eye care for people in underprivileged societies in Singapore as well as in developing countries. We are committed to spreading our outreach. If you know of a needy society who would benefit from free eyecare and spectacles, contact us to let us know.

In a rural village in Takeo, our volunteer medical professionals and optometrists provided eye care and eyewear sponsored by Essilor Vision Foundation to approximately 1000 local villagers. In addition, we gave out sunglasses and eyedrops. No one left empty handed.

Due to severe muscle deterioration caused by muscular dystrophy, members of MDAS rely on motorised wheelchairs for their daily mobility. As such, they face difficulty fitting in standard eye exam rooms. By providing mobile eye care regularly, their members are able to benefit greatly.

We provided eye screening, sunglasses and customised spectacles for the children and staff of a local children's home in Indonesia. By caring for their eyes, we hope that such acts of kindness gives them hope and lets them know that we care enough to be there.

Little Ambassadors Program

Our Little Ambassadors got together to learn about what volunteerism means and how to use their baking skills to raise funds for packed meals that they personally distributed to needy families.

Our Projects with Beyond Social Services

Recognizing the enormity of the challenges our society faces, Eye Care Without Borders is dedicated to making a lasting impact through our campaigns and programs. While our efforts are driven by our singular focus to help bring eye care to the poor, we spread a wide net by helping the poor in other ways, such as giving food donations. Eye Care Without Borders works with Beyond Social Services regularly to bring free eye care to low-income families in Singapore and, recently we also partnered with Food Bank Singapore to deliver food donation packs to sustain these families during the COVID-19 outbreak. We donated an $88 essential food and grocery pack to 100 low-income families to provide for the household for a month.

Project Eye Care Schoolbag

In 2021, we worked together with Project Eye Care Schoolbag, a ground up movement led by junior doctors, Sarah and Kai under the mentorship of Dr Claudine Pang; to distribute 1000 schoolbags containing in-house comic books, jigsaw puzzles, stationary and masks to children of low-income families, with the aim to teach good eye care habits to kids to prevent myopia.

How It Began

Even before Eye Care Without Borders began, our founder Dr Claudine Pang, with her family, have been actively involved with Operation Hope Foundation and CRIB Society in bringing eye care to underprivileged children in Cambodia and Nepal. Since then, her passion for providing free eye care has known no boundaries; hence Eye Care Without Borders was born.
